The highest peak of Tirol and the second highest in Austria is one of the most popular destinations in the Oetztal Alps. Everybody who has been standing on the summit at 3,770 above sea level and enjoyed the breathtaking panorama will remember this moment for a long time.
The normal route from the Pitztal to the Wildspitze is relatively easy from a technical point of view and embedded into an impressive landscape
Tip: Every Thursday and Sunday we offer a group tour to the Wildspitze for a special price. More information in the weekly programme.
Price applies for 1-2 persons. Each additional person +10%.
We take the Gletscherexpress underground for conquering the first 1,000m of altitude gain up to an altitude of 2,840m. From there we continue by foot across a pathless terrain of moraines, to the Mittelberg glacier and to the Mittelbergjoch (3,166m).
A brief descent (90 m of altitude loss) to the Taschach glacier follows. We continue as a roped team to tackle the next 600m of altitude gain across simple terrain to the southern ridge of the Wildspitze. The last 100m of altitude gain are conquered on a short rope. Some easy climbing passages (UIAA 1+) must be conquered.
We take the same route back and return back to the valley with the Gletscherexpress.
