The Wildspitze, the highest peak of the federal state of Tirol, is one of the most popular destinations among mountaineers in Austria.
Although you can reach the Wildspitze from the Pitztal valley within a day, the tour with an overnight stay in a mountain hut is an attractive option. You can either stay at the Taschach hut oder the Braunschweiger hut.
Price applies for 1-2 persons. Each additional person + € 48.00.
Start at the Braunschweiger hut: across moraines and the Mittelberg glacier to the Mittelbergjoch at an altitude of 3,166m. Past Taschachferner to the ski depot and across the south-western ridge to the summit.
Von Taschachhaus: across the marked path to the foot of Taschach glacier. Then across Taschach glacer past ice falls and Brochkogel to the ski depot. On a short rope to the south-western ridge and to the summit.
FITNESS: fitness for 8-10 h and up to 1340 m vertical metres up and down. You should be in a good physical shape.
TECHNIQUE: climbing in grade UIAA I+, no fear of heights, safe walking on unmarked trails is required; walking with crampons on a glacier is necessary. You can learn easily how to deal with the crampons during the tour.
