High above the Mittelberg glacier there is the Linke Fernerkogel with an altitude of 3278 m. The summit offers an excellent panoramic view and is a great day tour for mountaineering beginners.

We start at the top station of the Glacier Express. Then we traverse the Mittelberg glacier and make a wide left turn until we reach the saddle at 3155 m above sea level. Next we climb up the steep, north faced hanging glacier to the summit.
Descent to the valley via the Braunschweiger hut.
FITNESS: fitness for 5-6 h and 550 m vertical metres up and down.
