We would say the Petersenspitze (3484 m) is the perfect alpine tour for mountaineering beginners. But there is no need to underestimate the tour. As there are no climbing difficulties, we still have to pass the Taschach glacier with some crevasses.
By using the Glacier Express you can climb the Petersenspitze in one day.
Price applies for 1-2 persons. Each additional person +10%.
We take the Gletscherexpress underground for conquering the first 1,000m of altitude gain up to an altitude of 2,840m. From there we continue by foot across a pathless terrain of moraines, to the Mittelberg glacier and to the Mittelbergjoch (3,166m).
Short descent (90 m) to the Taschach glacier. We continue as a roped team to tackle the next 400m of altitude gain across simple terrain until we see the snow pyramid of the Petersenspitze. Via the wide ridge we get to the summit.
We take the same route back and return back to the valley with the Gletscherexpress
FITNESS: fitness for 5-6 h and 780 m vertical metres up and down.
